If it looks like they're actually winning, you can pull them back and sit them in front of a tower for a bit. They'll tire out the defenders in the process. They'll get slaughtered, but that's fine.
Attack, and 'suicide' charge the zombies to climb the walls, and try to 'rush' the city square. Skellies work too, but they're a bit more expensive and slower. Add some more zombies whilst sieging if I need to. Bring along 3 extra generals stocked with zombies. Wait for Templehof (or my target city) to have a real army there, with more than 14 units in it. 
You need more than 14 units per side, excluding garrisons.
the only tricky unit to place for me is kroxigors - if you overlay the frontline, they can get surrounded and go down, if you use them as flankers, they are even more isolated and have a harder time against cav(which is usually going to the sides anyways). heroes and lords will be where the mount type goes i like skink priests on terradons, but both other options are good too slann should stay in the back as they are squishier. Stegadon artillery can stay behind but can join the fray as soon as their fired off all the bolts. Cold/horned ones, Bastiladons, Ancient and Feral stegadons, Carnosaurs can go wherewer they can affect the most damage to the enemy. Terradon are great for flying over the enemy and bombard from the back. skinks are generally not used for endgame armies, if you want chameleons, they pretty much have to go to the sides. Their units are either pretty flexible, or have a general purpose, which makes things easier. I feel like lizard armies worked pretty well without much pre-set formation. Think we missed one?
